The Campus
Our ambition is to create an outstanding campus for education, skills and enterprise – The Richmond Education and Enterprise Campus.
The Campus will provide a new innovative college of further and higher education working in partnership with Haymarket, Harlequins, their partners and other successful global companies and local employers; a new, much needed 11-16, five form secondary school; purpose built accommodation for Clarendon School’s secondary pupils; and, Haymarket’s new “tech hub” and digital media incubator.
The Campus approach will enable a new model of learning integrated with enterprise, delivering high quality education hand in hand with developing young people’s skills, offering work opportunities and jobs. Although located in Twickenham, the Education and Enterprise Campus is an opportunity for London, drawing students from across the Capital. Our partners, Haymarket and Harlequins are both incredibly successful both at home and globally and this will bring an exciting additional dimension to this project. This is a unique opportunity.
The co-location of RTS with the College and Clarendon introduces some exciting possibilities for collaboration, integration and cross-sector working.

Richmond upon Thames College
With its re-build the College’s ambition is to create a local college for a global city, providing access to learning and skills which will lead to sustainable employment opportunities across a number of growth sectors.
The College’s new buildings will include real working environments, open to the local community including:
- Spa and wellness centre
- State of the art gym
- Theatre with seating for 250 people
- Art gallery, providing an opportunity for local artists and photographers to exhibit their work
- Silver service training restaurant with a chef’s table and unparalleled vistas
- Business start-up lounge
- Renewables centre
- Automotive testing facility
The College’s proposed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Centre will specialise in low carbon construction and renewable technologies, and its automotive programmes will provide services and workshops to the public.
A recruitment and employment service will provide a job search and transition service for those seeking new career opportunities.
A small conferencing facility will provide a public lecture series on key local and pan-London issues working in partnership with sector skills agencies, third sector and business forums.
The College and schools’ sporting facilities will also be open for community use. Currently 25 local clubs and groups use the College’s facilities every month, for example toddler’s soccer coaching, yoga classes and rugby coaching. Access to the new facilities on the Craneford Way East playing fields, will enhance this local offer.
Clarendon School
Clarendon is the Richmond upon Thames Local Authority day special school for pupils with complex learning difficulties. The school is currently located in Hampton and has 100 pupils.
A brand new, purpose built building will provide facilities and teaching spaces specifically designed for the particular needs of the school’s cohort, including those with autism. The new school will have 115 Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.
Being co-located on the Campus with a mainstream secondary school (RTS) and the College will provide opportunities for inclusion for students to and from each setting, and improved transition arrangements post-16. It will also allow access to shared facilities and improved opportunities for sharing staff expertise between settings.
What Clarendon School will bring to RTS:
- Specialist trained staff in a range of special educational needs (including autism, learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties and physical disabilities) which will provide help, support and advice and facilitate shared training as appropriate to the benefit of the pupils in RTS with a variety of special needs.
- Opportunities for inclusion for pupils in both schools. These will include: part-time placements, access to specialist academic and vocational courses, extra curricular activities and planned social interactions for pupils in both settings.
- Opportunities to access a range of specialist therapeutic and academic interventions.
- Opportunities for RTS’s pupils with complex needs to access specialist teaching facilities.

Haymarket - Tech Hub
The Haymarket “tech hub” will comprise state of the art facilities including digital labs for new technology and product development work, photographic studios, photographic archive, listening rooms for its consumer electronics brands, a gallery where creative, digital and photographic teams can showcase their best work and space for a media incubator.
The introduction of the Haymarket “tech hub” on the Campus will enable students to access, through the Haymarket Skills Academy, industry standard technology and work with established professionals who will be on hand to provide “master classes” and help shape curriculum content.
