The Richmond upon Thames School (RTS) programme helps our students to plan and manage their careers effectively, ensuring progression which is ambitious and aspirational. It promotes equality of opportunity, celebrates diversity and challenges stereotypes.
Careers education, information, advice and guidance programmes play a major part in helping young people choose pathways that suit their interests, abilities and individual needs. A robust careers programme helps avoid disengagement, puts school learning into a wider and more relevant context, and helps raise aspirations.

To ensure students at RTS receive the highest quality information, advice and guidance we are working towards meeting the statutory guidelines set out by the Gatsby Benchmarks and Government regulations.
In 2018 the government released a new careers strategy and statutory guidance for schools and colleges. It put an increased focus on using the Gatsby Benchmarks as a framework for best practice around which we can build our own careers provision.
The eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance:

3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
