First Set of GCSE Results!
The Richmond upon Thames School celebrate their first set of GCSE results
Students at the Richmond upon Thames School, widely known as RTS, celebrated their GCSE results today as the school secured its first set of examination results. Established in 2017, this cohort of young people is the first to have completed their 5-year journey at the school.
The school prides itself on approaching education with an innovative and curiosity-driven curriculum in which all can achieve their full potential. Core beliefs that drive the school include: ‘intelligence is not fixed’, ‘hard work influences success’ and; ‘aspirations matter’. At RTS, the school’s motto, ‘Excellence Through Endeavour’, certainly seems to have been taken to heart by students and staff alike, with this fabulous and strong set of results.
Head Teacher, Kelly Dooley, said, “The educational outcomes we have secured for our students is testament to the expertise and dedication of our outstanding staff. I am grateful to parents and carers for their extraordinary support over the last five years. Their support of their children, and us, has been really quite special. Thanks must also go to FoRTS (the Friends of RTS), our partners, and our trustees for their fundraising, sound advice and moral support throughout this period.”
“As for our wonderful students, I remember when they joined us - the first students to walk through our doors. They hold a unique place in the hearts of all staff who have made this journey with them and I thank them for their courageous spirit and positive, purposeful attitudes to learning. We wish them all the very best as they move on to their chosen post-16 pathways and hope they will stay in regular contact with us - for we haven’t yet finished cheering them on.”
Jason Hughes, Chair of the Richmond upon Thames School Trust, said, “Our year 11 students have faced unprecedented challenges as they have prepared for their GCSE examinations. The results today are a testament to the students' hard work, focus and maturity; as well as the expertise and support of every member of the RTS staff. The students will be uniquely prepared for the challenges that life will bring. As a Trust Board we could not be prouder.”
Superb 9-4 individual subject results include Biology 94%, Physics 90%, Chemistry 87% and English 83% grades. These results have enabled students to secure exciting next steps, with destinations including Esher College, Richmond upon Thames College and Strodes College, to study a wide range of A-Level and vocational subjects.
Students were also delighted with their individual results, including Isha who achieved 999998888, Panteleymon with 9999998876, Lauren with 999998876 and Gabriel with 9999987765.
"I'd like to thank the teachers at RTS and especially my parents for being so supportive, especially during the lockdown. I'm hoping to become a biochemist, so I am going to study A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Maths." - Isha
"These results are what I expected because I worked really hard for them. I'm feeling really happy and excited about my next steps! I would like to become a physicist, so I will be studying Physics, Maths and Further Maths. NPL here I come!" - Gabriel
"I was feeling really anxious, but now I'm relieved because I got the results that I deserve. Thank you so much to every single teacher and member of staff at RTS for supporting and guiding me throughout my entire journey here. I feel like I've really grown, and now my sights are set on Biology, Chemistry and French at A-Level." - Lauren
