The school will use the over‐subscription criteria used for admission to Richmond upon Thames’ current non‐faith secondary schools.

Where there are more applications for admission than places available, the criteria used to allocate places are:

  • current and previously looked‐after children;
  • exceptional family, social or medical need;
  • siblings; 
  • proximity of the child’s home to the school.

Appeals

Year 7 Appeals - September 2025

National offer day is 03 March 2025.

If, after this date, you have been refused a place for your child at The Richmond upon Thames School you have the right to appeal.

The final date for registering an appeal is 21 April 2025.

The admission appeals process is administered by the Richmond Independent Appeals Service, this ensures that it is separate from, and independent of, the school and the admission authority.

Appeals at any other time

If your child has been refused a place at one of your preferred secondary schools, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel.

In-Year Admissions

Applying for a place at the Richmond upon Thames School ‘in-year’

In-year admissions to secondary schools in the London Borough of Richmond are managed by the Richmond School Admissions. 

To apply for an in-year place at the Richmond upon Thames School (RTS), parents/carers can find full details of how to apply and the application process on the Richmond School Admissions website.  Parents/Carers should contact their home borough for guidance if they do not live in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.  

Applications from Richmond's residents will be made via a Richmond secondary in-year application for the academic year 2024-25 form, which is available on their website.
